Tabbouleh, distinct from its Malay-sounding counterpart "tak boleh," is a Middle Eastern salad that stands out in its own right.

A swift online search reveals that Tabbouleh is a popular Levantine salad, while its close relative, Tabouli, is a Mediterranean variant. We engaged in a conversation with Muzaffar Khan, the proprietor of Tabbouleh Lebanese Gourmet Cafe and Restaurant, as he shared insights into his Lebanese establishment.

"Despite grilled meat typically being the centerpiece of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean fare, we opted for the name Tabbouleh because it's a well-loved salad in the Levantine," explained Muzaffar Khan. "Tabbouleh is renowned throughout the Middle East, and we wanted a name that resonates easily with people in the region."

Armed with a degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Muzaffar embarked on the journey to establish his own F&B restaurant. "Although I'm originally from Pakistan, my mother is Lebanese. Since childhood, I've cherished Lebanese cuisine and harbored a strong desire to serve it, which led to the inception of Tabbouleh," shared Muzaffar.

Tabbouleh first opened its doors in 2008, choosing Arab Street and Haji Lane as prime locations. Arab Street, a bustling hub for tourists and locals, is particularly popular among the younger generation for casual dining and late-night suppers.

"Some visitors might find Arab Street a bit perplexing due to the diverse range of cuisines - Turkish, Arabian, Persian, Lebanese, and even Greek-Mediterranean. However, each cuisine stands out due to its distinctive spice blends," remarked Muzaffar. "Of course, there are also exclusive dishes that differentiate each country's offerings."

While staples like Falafel, Kafka, and Shawarma wraps are familiar to locals, lesser-known Lebanese dishes like Hummus Fatteh and Lamb Mandi add depth to the culinary experience.

Lebanese cuisine's fame is well-deserved, characterized by its delectable flavors and diverse ingredients. Tabbouleh Lebanese Restaurant, situated in Bussorah Street, Singapore, is at the forefront of this culinary craze, owned by Muzzaffar Khan.

Having been open for over a year, Tabbouleh Lebanese Restaurant continues to delight patrons with dishes like Tabbouleh salad and hummus. For the uninitiated, Tabbouleh is a Lebanese salad comprising tomatoes, parsley, mint, onions, and lemon juice. (It's also known as tabouli, tabbouli, tabouleh, tabouli, and tabouleh.) The dish has gained immense popularity in Singapore.

Tabbouleh Lebanese Restaurant, a family-run establishment, prides itself on serving authentic Lebanese cuisine. Prepared with fresh ingredients, their dishes offer a unique and delightful taste experience at any time of the day.
